Jason Preuss is a Green Lake County native with over 28 years of local law enforcement experience, with a focus on integrity, strong work ethic, and building community relationships.
Born and raised in Southern Green Lake County, Jason has spent his entire career serving the community he calls home, having worked in the communications/dispatch center, correctional facility, serving as a Deputy Sheriff, SWAT/CTU/CERT team member, a Field Training Officer, a K-9 handler, and most recently as a Patrol Sergeant.
From a very young age, Jason knew he wanted to work in law enforcement and give back to the county that raised him, with a goal to one day serve his great community as the Sheriff.
Jason is committed to creating meaningful impact within the community and the department, with a smooth transition of leadership.

Get to Know Jason
Outside of his role in law enforcement, Jason is a husband and father who values time with his family. He and his wife, Krissy, have been married for over 20 years and are proud to be raising their son in the same community they call home.
Whether it’s snowmobiling together as a family, or spending time hunting with their son, these are the moments that matter most—rooted in family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the life they’ve built. Known for keeping a pristine lawn, Jason once turned it into "Preuss Field", hosting a kids wiffle ball tournament that brought smiles, laughter, and a whole lot of community spirit.
As a member of the Green Lake County Republican Party, Jason’s conservative beliefs are grounded in the same principles he lives by daily—faith in community, personal responsibility, and a commitment to protecting the values that make this county home.
